1. The leaves of holy basil, known as tulsi in the vernacular, are highly beneficially the treatment of stress.
2. They are regarded as adaptogen or anti-stress agents. Recent studies have shown that the leaves protect against stress significantly.
3. It has been suggested that even healthy persons should chew 12 leaves of holy basil twice a day, morning and evening for preventing stress.
4. The leaves of the holy basil ( tulsi) have also been found beneficial in the treatment of this condition. The water boiled with basil leaves should be taken as a drink and also used as a gargle in sore throat.
