Everyone knows about this. Here's a logical list

* It just becomes a habit for a kid to always sit in front of a TV set. Kids always like to repeat the act - once they are taught to watch tv and they imitate you. For example : when they see you watching news or movie, they just follow your path and repeat the same.
* They try to copy whatever is shown in tv. Some of them would think that the movie shows real things. If they view negative things more than they are more prone towards crime (violence) - a classic example is wwf fights, if they are shown positive things then they will be more prone to kind person. BUT if they are shown stupid things Eg: jumping from a terrace then they might  copy it and well be a victim.
* If you want your kid to get a thick glasses by the age of 15 then let him watch more..
* Inactive being - yes this is a fact -- watching more television might make him/her lazy and ultimately a inactive person. He/she might become lazy.
* Less social - the kid might not have enough time to make friends and ultimately not mix up with others.
* Obesity - less activity , no outdoor sports, more eating while watching television and ultimately they get chubby body.
* one research also shows that people who view alot of television (between 20 to 60) get alzheimer disease (memory loss at old age)
* Too much addiction of television - would affect his rest and life style.
* Addiction of television - would affect his/her concentration. And he/she might fall behind others in studies.
* Sometimes your child might get exposed to pornographic contents in movies. (althought channel lock in available) This might send wrong message
* The kid will definately see an ad showing alcohol or cigarette and will definately try out. Sometimes the kid might try out drugs (as its commonly shown in movies)
* Bad posture while watching tv on a long stretch will definately affect the kids muscles / bones (in the long run)
* one study conducted shows that the kid who watches more television is likely to drop out from university more..

So won't you keep your child away from television ?
