Lots of techniques must be there - i just remember that you can meditation by sitting in padmasan and then closing your eyes and thinking about nothing. (basic meditation) Or you are just required to sit and then focus on some statue or a dot and then focus on it. (focused meditation) Or you are required to do some activities and focus related to gardening, pottery etc. (activity oriented meditation). Or just don't think much about future or past but rather lets things go as usual (Mindfulness meditation) You even can meditate in the form of devotional prayer or song (Spiritual Meditating)
